Get Rid of Crawling Insects – Contact Us
Are you bothered by crawling insects such as bed bugs, cockroaches, fleas, silverfish, carpet beetles or ants? Don't hesitate and contact KillBugs today. We will provide a quick diagnosis and a solution tailored to your situation. Because at KillBugs, everything revolves around your peace of mind.
Combating bed bugs
Bed bugs – also known as bed bugs – have been advancing more and more in both homes and businesses in recent years. These small nocturnal insects feed on blood and can cause considerable nuisance. In addition to itchy bites, they often lead to sleepless nights and a feeling of discomfort. Because they hide quickly and are difficult to combat, a professional approach is essential. KillBugs helps you get rid of bed bugs quickly and discreetly.
What are bed bugs?
Bed bugs are small, flattened insects with a reddish-brown color, which feed on the blood of humans and sometimes animals. During the day they remain hidden in seams, cracks, mattresses and furniture, but at night they come out to bite. They are notorious for their rapid reproduction and persistent presence, which makes them a serious problem in both homes and businesses. Without targeted control, they spread very quickly.

Bedbugs or Carpet Beetles? Spot the Difference!
Bed bugs are often confused with carpet beetles, but they are completely different insects with very different behavior and risks. Bed bugs are blood-sucking parasites that feed on humans at night and cause itchy bites. Carpet beetles, on the other hand, do not feed on blood, but on natural fibers such as wool, carpet or animal hair.
The biggest difference? Bed bugs are often found in or around the bed, behind baseboards or in seams of mattresses. Carpet beetles are more likely to be found in rugs, corners of rooms or in closets. Correct identification is crucial for correct treatment.
Are you hesitating between bed bugs or carpet beetles? Let us come by for a professional inspection. This way you avoid wrong treatments and unnecessary costs.
How do you recognize a bed bug infestation?
A bed bug infestation is not always immediately visible, but there are clear signs that can indicate their presence. Look for the following characteristics:
- Itchy bites: Small, red bumps on the skin, often in a row or cluster. These usually occur at night and are often on exposed parts of the body.
- Blood Stains in Bed: Small traces of blood on sheets or pillowcases, caused by crushed bed bugs after feeding.
- Dark Spots: Bed bug droppings – small black or brown dots – are often found on mattresses, bed frames, or behind baseboards.
- Eggs and shed skins: Bed bugs lay eggs in cracks and crevices. You may also find empty shed skins.
- Musty sweet odor: In severe infestations, a characteristic odor may sometimes be noticeable, coming from the scent glands of bed bugs.
- Live insects: In severe cases, you may see the insects themselves – especially around the seams of mattresses or under bedding.
Do you suspect a bed bug infestation? Don't wait too long. The sooner the control starts, the better the chance of a quick and effective solution.
Want to have bed bugs professionally exterminated?
Many people try to combat bed bugs themselves with sprays or household remedies. Unfortunately, these are usually not effective enough and can even worsen the infestation by spreading. Bed bugs are very resistant and hide deep in furniture or walls.
At KillBugs we offer a professional, customized approach with guaranteed results. We combine:
- Thorough inspection of the room and furniture
- Targeted treatments approved insecticides that are electrostatically fogged
- Aftercare and follow-up, including advice to prevent re-infection
- Discretion and a customer-oriented approach
For hotels, B&Bs and healthcare institutions, we work fully in accordance with hygiene standards and provide clear reporting and follow-up.
What can you do yourself about bed bugs?
Although professional pest control is essential, you can prepare the following:
- Wash bedding, curtains and clothes at a minimum of 60°C
- Vacuum thoroughly around bed, mattress and furniture (throw away vacuum bag!)
- Vermijd het verplaatsen van besmette spullen (verspreidingsgevaar!)
- When booking or purchasing second-hand furniture, always mention possible risks

Hoe voorkomt u een bedwantsenplaag?
Prevention is better than cure – especially when it comes to bed bugs. With the right precautions, you can significantly reduce the chance of an infestation:
🧳 Be alert when traveling
Check hotel beds, mattresses and furniture for signs of bed bugs. Keep your suitcase closed and preferably store it on a luggage rack, not on the bed or floor.
🧼 Wash luggage and clothes
Wash clothes at a minimum of 60°C after returning from a stay away from home. Dry your laundry at a high temperature to kill any unwanted guests.
🛏️ Check your bed regularly
Check mattresses, bed frames and seams for blood spots, black spots or shed skin. Early detection prevents spreading.
📦 Be careful with second-hand furniture
Bed bugs hide in small crevices. Seal gaps around baseboards, electrical outlets and furniture to reduce hiding places.
🧹 Keep your environment clean
Kakkerlakken bestrijden
What are cockroaches?
Cockroaches are unwanted insects that occur worldwide and can adapt very quickly to their environment. They have a flat, oval body, long antennae and move quickly and skittishly. Although they originally come from warm areas, they also feel at home in buildings, kitchens and other warm, humid places. Cockroaches are known for their ability to survive and can pose a risk to hygiene and health in homes or businesses.
Why are cockroaches a problem?
Cockroaches are not only an unpleasant sight, but also a serious health risk. They can spread bacteria such as salmonella and E. coli, which cause food poisoning and infections. Their presence can also aggravate allergic reactions or asthmatic symptoms, especially in children. Cockroaches leave behind traces of feces, molting skins and a penetrating, musty odor. They also contaminate food and surfaces, which compromises the hygiene of the home or business. Rapid extermination is therefore essential.
Types of cockroaches
De Duitse kakkerlak: klein, maar hardnekkig
The German cockroach is the most common species in homes and businesses. They are light brown in color and recognizable by the two dark longitudinal stripes on their thorax. With their small size and fast reproduction, they can quickly become a real plague. This species likes warm, humid places such as kitchens, bathrooms and appliances, and is particularly difficult to control without professional help.

De Oosterse kakkerlak: groot en hardnekkig in vochtige omgevingen
Oriental cockroaches are noticeably larger and darker than other species. With their shiny dark brown to black color and slow movements, they are often found in cool, damp environments such as basements, crawl spaces, and drains. These cockroaches usually hide during the day and come out at night in search of food. Due to their preference for moisture, they are a persistent problem in older buildings and poorly ventilated areas.

The American Cockroach: Big, Fast, and Unwanted
The American cockroach is the largest of the common cockroach species. With a length of up to 4 centimeters and a reddish-brown color, this species is easy to recognize. They prefer warm, moist environments such as sewers, crawl spaces, kitchens and boiler rooms. American cockroaches can fly, move quickly and pose a serious hygiene problem once they enter. Their size and mobility make them extra difficult to control without a professional approach.

The Brown-banded Cockroach: Small in size, but widespread
The brown-banded cockroach is smaller than the American cockroach and is distinguished by the light, yellow-brown bands across its body. This species often lives in the higher parts of buildings, such as ceilings, closets and upper floors.

How do you recognize a cockroach infestation?
1. Living or dead pests
The most obvious sign is seeing cockroaches, especially at night or in dark, damp areas. Dead cockroaches can also indicate an active infestation.
2. Feces
Cockroaches leave small, black droppings that resemble ground pepper or coffee powder. These are often found along skirting boards, in kitchen cupboards or in other sheltered places.
3. A musty smell
A cockroach infestation is often accompanied by a pungent, musty odor. This odor becomes stronger as the infestation increases.
4. Eipakketjes (oothecae)
Cockroaches lay egg packets that look like small brown or black capsules. They are often hidden in cracks, crevices or behind appliances.
5. Damage to food or packaging
Are you wondering whether you are dealing with cockroaches?
Don't wait. Cockroaches reproduce quickly and can spread disease. Contact KillBugs today for a quick inspection and effective extermination.

Fighting fleas
Flea infestation in your home? This is what you need to know
Fleas are a common problem and can cause a lot of inconvenience. They spread quickly and infest not only your pets but also your home.
An adult flea lays up to 30 eggs per day within 24 hours. After 10 days, these develop into larvae, which feed on skin flakes and feces. They then form a cocoon in which they can survive for up to a year.
🔸
How do you recognize a flea?
A flea is a small, fast-moving insect about 2 to 3 millimeters in size. They are brownish in color and have a flat, laterally compressed body, which allows them to move easily through the fur of animals.
Characteristics of a flea:
- Fast and jumpy: fleas can jump very far, up to 30 cm.
- Small and dark: they are brown to reddish brown in color.

🐾 1. Scratching pets
Is your dog or cat constantly scratching, biting or licking? This could be a sign of fleas.
🔍 2. Small, jumping insects
Fleas are only 2-3 mm in size and move quickly. Do you see small, dark creatures jumping on your carpet, furniture or pets? There is a good chance that they are fleas.
⚫ 3. Flea droppings
🛏️ 4. Bites on your skin
Flea bites usually appear as small, itchy bumps, often on the lower legs or ankles.

How do you prevent a flea infestation?
A flea infestation can cause a lot of discomfort, but with the right prevention, you can keep your home and pets flea-free. Follow these tips to prevent problems:
🐾 1. Behandel je huisdieren regelmatig
Use preventative flea products such as spot-ons, sprays or collars that prevent fleas from getting on your pet.
🧹 2. Keep your house clean

💧 3. Limit moisture and heat
Fleas thrive in warmth and moisture. Ensure good ventilation and avoid damp areas in the home.
🚪 4. Prevent fleas from entering
Check used furniture and make sure your home is properly sealed, especially if you live in an area where fleas are common.
♻️ 5. Waste and garden management

Combating silverfish
What are silverfish, paperfish and ovenfish?
Silverfish are small, silver-colored insects that are found mainly in damp, dark spaces. They move quickly and live on starchy substances such as paper and glue.
Paperfish resemble silverfish, but are usually slightly smaller and are primarily concerned with eating paper and cardboard.
Firebrats are related to silverfish, but have a slightly wider, oval body and are often slightly larger. They are often found in kitchens and bathrooms.
All three can cause nuisance by feeding on materials in the home, such as books, wallpaper and food scraps.
Characteristics of silverfish:
- Silvery body 1 to 1.5 cm long
- Elongated and flat, with three 'tail threads' at the back
- Move fast and meandering, like a fish
- Active in the dark, rarely seen during the day
- Feed on starch, paper, glue and fungi
You often recognize them because they suddenly run away when you turn on the light in a dark, damp room.

How do you recognize silverfish?
Paperfish are similar to silverfish, but have different habits and can cause damage to paper and books. They like dry, warm places such as bookcases, archives and attics.
Characteristics of silverfish:
- Light gray to brownish body 1 to 1.5 cm long
- Long and narrow, with three tail threads at the back
- Move quickly, especially in the dark
- Living in dry, warm places (20–26°C)
- Feed on paper, glue, cardboard and dead insects
You can often recognize a silverfish infestation by minor damage to paper, books or wallpaper, without any apparent cause.

How do you recognize silverfish?
Characteristics of silverfish:
- Light to dark brown body, slightly broader than silverfish
- About 1 to 1.5 cm long
- Drie lange sprieten aan de achterkant
- Move quickly and nervously
- Like dry heat (up to 30°C), unlike silverfish which like moisture

Why are these insects a problem?
Silverfish, firebrats and firebrats do not pose a direct threat to your health, but they can cause quite a bit of nuisance. They feed on materials such as paper, cardboard, glue, textiles and wallpaper, causing damage to books, documents, clothing and interior.
Furthermore, their presence can indicate underlying problems, such as damp in the home or insufficient ventilation. This not only makes them a nuisance, but also a signal that your home needs extra attention.

At KillBugs, the managers Geoffrey and Stephanie carry out all assignments themselves. This way, you can be sure of personal, expert service from start to finish.
What can you do yourself about silverfish?
It is difficult to completely eradicate silverfish yourself, but you can take a number of steps to make their habitat less attractive:
✔ Reduce humidity (ventilate, use a dehumidifier) ✔ Seal seams and cracks in walls, skirting boards and floors ✔ Store documents and food in sealed boxes ✔ Avoid cardboard boxes in damp places ❌ Do not use household remedies such as bait boxes – they are not effective and mask the problem

Combating carpet beetles
What are carpet beetles?
Carpet beetles or bed bugs?
Carpet beetles are often confused with bed bugs, especially because the symptoms of an infestation can be similar. While bed bugs are mainly active at night and bite people, carpet beetles themselves do not cause bites. It is the larvae of the carpet beetle that cause problems.
The hairy larvae can cause allergic reactions when they come into contact with the skin. These reactions – such as red bumps, itching or skin irritation – strongly resemble bedbug bites. This often leads to confusion among residents.
Not sure if you have carpet beetles or bed bugs? KillBugs is here to help you determine the difference and provide a targeted approach.
Recognizing carpet beetles and larvae
Recognizing carpet beetles
Appearance of adult carpet beetle:
- Grootte: 2 tot 4 millimeter lang
- Vorm: Ovaal en bolrond
- Kleur: Gemarmerd patroon van zwart, wit, bruin en geel (afhankelijk van de soort, zoals de gewone tapijtkever of de veelkleurige tapijtkever)
- Wings: They can fly and are often attracted to light

Recognizing larvae
Appearance of larvae (the harmful stage):
- Size: 4 to 5 millimeters
- Shape: Elongated with a tapering body
- Color: Dark brown with light colored stripes
- Characteristic: Covered with small hairs and a brush-like tail – these hairs can cause allergic skin reactions

Effectively combat carpet beetles
A carpet beetle infestation can be persistent, especially as they hide well in seams, cracks, carpets and furniture. A thorough and targeted approach is therefore essential.
Stappen voor effectieve bestrijding:
- Deep cleaning: Start by vacuuming – especially in corners, under furniture, in cupboards and along baseboards. Throw away the vacuum bag immediately after use.
- Treat textiles: Wash clothes, curtains and other textiles at a minimum of 60°C or freeze them at -20°C for 72 hours to kill larvae and eggs.
- Inspection and Sealing: Check seams, cracks and ventilation openings. Seal as many cracks as possible to prevent re-contamination.
- Professional control: Carpet beetles are difficult to completely eliminate with household products alone. KillBugs uses safe and targeted pesticides that tackle both larvae and adult beetles. We ensure a lasting result.
Mieren bestrijden
Are you having trouble with ants in or around your home or business? KillBugs combats all types of ants quickly and effectively
Are you dealing with ants in your home, kitchen, patio or garden? Ants seem harmless, but can develop into a persistent plague that causes nuisance, damage and hygiene problems. Especially when it comes to species such as the black garden ant, pharaoh ant, garden ant or red wood ant, a professional approach is necessary.
At KillBugs you are at the right address for safe, fast and effective ant control. With more than 10 years of experience and active in Limburg, Antwerp and Leuven, we provide a permanent solution for nuisance by ants.
Which ant species do we combat?
There are dozens of species of ants, but most problems are caused by the following four:
Black garden ant (Lasius niger)
This ant is the most common in Belgium. They nest outside, but move en masse inside in search of sweets. They form long ant streets towards kitchens, pantries and waste bins.

Pharaoh's broom (Monomorium pharaonis)
A tropical species that settles indoors, often in heated buildings such as hospitals, flats and nursing homes. These ants can spread diseases through food and are extremely difficult to eradicate without professional help.

Tuinmier (Lasius flavus)
Often found in gardens and under patio tiles. They can crawl through foundations and walls and penetrate in search of food. The nests cause subsidence and accumulations of sand.

Red ant (Formica rufa)
A larger species that is mainly found in wooded areas, but can also colonize gardens and houses nearby. Their bites can be painful and they defend their nests aggressively.

Why Professional Ant Control is Necessary
Problems that ants can cause:
- Hygiene problems: they crawl over garbage, food and work surfaces
- Food contamination in kitchens, restaurants and catering establishments
- Material damage: undermining of terraces, driveways or interior floors
- Image and customer damage for companies and shops
KillBugs: ant control with guaranteed results
At KillBugs we always work thoroughly, focused and with expertise. Every ant infestation is different and requires a customized strategy, depending on the species, location and severity of the problem.
Our working method:
- Targeted treatment with professional attractant gels, powders and sprays (safe after application)
- Nest detection and extermination for a structural approach
- Advice and prevention to prevent new ant infestations
- Possible follow-up treatment in case of recurring discomfort
For companies, we also provide reporting and advice in line with FAVV or HACCP standards.
What makes KillBugs unique? You communicate directly with the managers, Geoffrey and Stephanie, who also come on site for inspection and treatment.
What can you do yourself about ant infestation?
Although professional treatment is most effective, there are some things you can do yourself:
✔ Store food in tightly sealed containers ✔ Keep work surfaces, kitchens and waste areas clean ✔ Seal cracks and openings around windows, doors and pipes ✔ Do not use aggressive sprays – they disrupt the trail without destroying the nest
Don't let ant infestation get out of hand
A single ant today can mean a colony of thousands tomorrow, so don't wait until the plague gets out of control.
